Elegant Cakes was founded by Sarah in 2000 with the aim of creating bespoke stunning, mouth-watering, masterpieces which would be admired and enjoyed by everyone.

As a very young child, Sarah would often be found helping her mother in the kitchen baking cakes and pies. By the time she reached her teens, she had become a very competent cook with a repertoire of tasty recipes, but most enjoyed baking.

It was in her late teens when Sarah first mentioned to a friend that she would love to learn how to decorate a cake properly. While she was away on holiday her friend enrolled her at night school. Two years later not only could she bake the cakes for family and friends, she could also decorate them. The perfect hobby was established.

It was in 2000 when she finally decided to make the hobby she was passionate for, her profession. Sarah’s natural talents for everything food related, led her to studying at West Kent catering college, where she retrained and gained advanced City and Guilds qualifications in Sugarcraft, Cake Design and Chocolate Artistry.

In 2008/9, Sarah’s desire to improve her artistic and design skills and to create more accurate sugar flowers led her back to college to study and qualify as a florist.

Since forming Elegant Cakes, Sarah’s stunning designs have wowed Kent and Sussex brides and featured in national bridal magazines and impressed the major venues in the area.

She is a member of the British Sugarcraft Guild, and has a wealth of experience and expertise designing, baking and decorating elegant, mouth-watering cakes.
